Crane & Forklift Rental in Toronto

Broderson carry deck cranes, ORION high-capacity forklifts and Versa-Lift rigging forklifts. Compact enough to work indoors, rated to 160,000 lbs.

Why Toronto is different

A city with no room to work in

Most crane work in Toronto is constrained before it starts. Downtown sites have no lay-down area and often no street to set up on. Plants across Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke were built decades ago around equipment that no longer matches what they run today. Loading docks were sized for pallets, not presses.

The machines fit

Built for indoors

A carry deck crane travels through a plant doorway and works in bays where a mobile crane cannot deploy outriggers. On constrained sites that decides the job before capacity does.

The equipment is uncommon

Not a general fleet

Most rental companies in Toronto carry boom trucks and mobile cranes. Fewer carry compact indoor equipment, and fewer still carry forklifts rated above 20,000 lbs.

What we get called for

The Toronto jobs

Rooftop mechanical and HVAC, where the constraint is usually where the crane can stand rather than the weight, and whether the structure below carries the outrigger load. Plant machinery installation inside buildings that are already full, where an overhead crane cannot reach and a mobile crane cannot fit. Plant relocations against a fixed window with penalties attached, which makes equipment availability part of the plan rather than an afterthought.

  • Elevator and shaft work, where access governs rather than capacity
  • Steel and structural placement on constrained downtown sites
  • Emergency breakdowns, a recurring call rather than an unusual one

Before you call

Four things decide the machine

Most people work backwards from the load weight alone. On this kind of work the doorway, the turn and the floor rule out more machines than the tonnage does.

  • The load properly: weight, dimensions and lifting points
  • The route in, not the destination: lowest clearance, tightest turn
  • What the floor carries, under tyres and under outriggers
  • How long you need it, because durations price very differently

Common questions

Before you book

Do you deliver to Toronto job sites?

Yes, throughout Toronto and the GTA from our Oakville facility. Delivery is arranged with the rental, and we discuss site access before the machine is dispatched rather than after it arrives.

What does crane rental cost in Toronto?

It depends on the machine, the duration and the delivery, so any figure quoted without those is a guess. What drives the number is capacity and model, how long you hold the machine, delivery and collection, and whether an operator is required.

Can this equipment work inside a building?

Yes, and it is much of what we do. Broderson carry deck cranes are built low and compact specifically for indoor plant work, with LPG options for confined spaces. The practical questions are door and overhead clearance, floor loading, and whether the engine type suits your ventilation. Our guide to choosing between crane types covers the trade-offs.

Do I need a certified operator?

In Ontario a mobile crane rated over 16,000 lbs requires a certified operator, and at or below that rating none is required. Among the carry deck range only the three smallest machines sit below the line. The IC-80, at 9 ton or 18,000 lbs, is above it. The threshold is the machine's rated capacity, not the weight of the load on the day.

Do you rent, sell, or both?

Both, across all three lines. Which makes more sense usually comes down to how often you need the capacity rather than budget alone. Project-based lifting favours rental; recurring heavy moves through the year often justify ownership, and we are happy to work through the numbers with you. The full range is on our equipment page.

Do you service equipment you did not supply?

Yes. We stock OEM parts for Broderson and Versa-Lift as an authorised dealer, and as the manufacturer of ORION we can supply anything on those machines. Our service department is fully mobile and equipped for cranes and forklifts rated 20,000 lb and above, from no-starts to structural repairs, whether you rented from us, bought from us, or already own the machine. We also run classroom and hands-on operator training. More on parts, service and training.

Tell us about the lift

Weight, dimensions, where it has to go and what is in the way. That is usually enough for us to tell you which machine fits and which does not, and it is a better starting point than a model number.
